| - The title is an allusion to Peter Pan, the character created by J.M. Barry, was friends with fairies (including Tinkerbell), and never grew old.
- There are several allusions to characters created by Carlo Collodi: Dean calls Sam Pinocchio (a carved puppet who wants to be a real boy). Sam calls Dean Jiminy Cricket (who served as his conscience), and also refers to the Blue Fairy (who eventually transforms him into a real boy).
