To make sure Lucifer didn't have his apocalyptic battle with his brother, as Crowley was certain that once Lucifer destroyed humans, demons would be next. Once Lucifer was defeated it was to find Purgatory and make it his own personal kingdom

He guided the Winchesters and helped them re-trap Lucifer. Only to save his own skin and accomplish his agenda. After Lucifer was defeated Crowley became the King of Hell and had Grandpa Samuel Winchester capturing alpha's of supernatural species so that Crowley could attempt to figure out where Purgatory is.

Killed by Castiel after Crowley admitted that he could not retrieve Sam's soul from Lucifer's Cage. Since Crowley couldn't hold up his end of the deal, Castiel set his bones on fire.

I'm gonna miss this guy. The actor is great and has a wonderful part in this series. All of his past work has been fantastic. Especially in Battlestar Gallactica. I hope they bring him back at some point.
