  • Dean to Mick (when Mick refuses to discuss the incident with his colleagues): “Wow, that is some world-class repression. You are British.”
Mick to Dean: “We prefer to call it a stiff upper lip.”
  • Dean to Sam (about letting Mick hunt): “Dude, what we do – you can’t learn this crap in a book. You put on a flannel, you pick up a gun, you go out there. Either you get good fast or you get dead faster.”
  • Mick to Sam (after he helps save Claire): “So, we’re good.”
Sam to Mick: “Not quite. But we’ll give you a second chance.”
Dean to Mick: “Just don’t mess it up. There won’t be a third.”

  • Does Mick blame himself for his colleagues' getting killed?
  • Is Mick sympathizing too much with the American hunters? If so, will that endanger him with the British Men of Letters (BMOLs) hierarchy?
  • Did Dean and Sam endanger Garth by mentioning him by name to Mick?
  • How will Jody handle being lied to by Claire? Will she allow Claire to keep hunting? Can she stop her?
  • Will Claire continue to make reckless decisions, or will she take the Winchesters' advice to heart?
  • Did any other members of Justin's pack survive?
  • Did American hunters destroy Justin's pack, or was it the BMOLs?

  • The Kendrick’s School in England is where the BMOLs operatives receive their training. The facility supposedly has the largest collection of occult lore in the world
  • Mick wants to learn how to hunt so he’ll be better prepared the next time he has to face a monster
  • Mick commented that Martin Luther and some other monks were hunters. He also says that sulfate gas and silver nitrate lethal injections are newer methods developed by the BMOLs for dealing with werewolves
  • Mick noted that the BMOLs eradicated werewolves in the United Kingdom in the 1920s. They also developed a plasma therapy that they thought might cure werewolves, but it only worked 1 out of 9 times, and it was mostly tested on mice. The only human test subject died. Fortunately, it worked for Claire
  • Based on how nice the Wild Elk Lodge was, the BMOLS are used to traveling in style compared to the Winchesters
  • Dean skinny dips!
  • Claire lied to Jody so she could work a job alone, because Jody doesn’t want her to hunt
  • Justin the werewolf said he was happily living with a pack and not harming humans until hunters found them and killed many of them

  • The Lucky Badger Ale House is a fictional bar somewhere in Wisconsin, but we never learn where. The University of Wisconsin's sports teams are called the Badgers, so the bar's name is likely a nod to that university
  • There is a girl's grammar school in Berkshire, UK, called the Kendrick School. It was founded in 1877
  • Mick and the Winchesters stayed at the Wild Elk Lodge
  • Miranda Frigon, who played Haydn’s mother, also played a sheriff’s wife in season 6 “Unforgiven
  • Ryan McDonnell, who played Connor the bartender played a drug dealer in “The Born Again Identity” (season 7)

  • Hayden mentioned a drink called a Moscow Mule -- a blend of vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice
  • Sam asked Mick "What’s the deal with the bat signal"? referring to Mick's asking the Winchesters for help. In the DC Comics superhero "Batman" serial, the bat signal is a light that is projected from a rooftop in Gotham City to let Batman know that the police department needs help
  • Sam asks Mick if the Kendrick School is like "Hogwarts", referring to the popular fantasy book and film franchise Harry Potter. In the Harry Potter films and books, Hogwarts is the name of the school where children are trained to be wizards. Later in the episode, Dean jokingly refers to Mick as Harry Potter -- likely a reference to Mick's Irish/UK origins
  • Mick implies that Martin Luther (1483 - 1546), the German professor, priest and monk who founded the Lutheran church, was also a hunter
  • Dean and Sam used fed aliasesMcVie and Fleetwood, and Mick later introduced himself as Dr. Buckingham. These names all reference the legendary rock band Fleetwood Mac. John McVie was the band's bassist; his wife, Christie McVie was a vocalist and played keyboards; Mick Fleetwood was the percussionist, and Lindsey Buckingham was lead guitarist and vocalist
  • Claire lied to Jody and told her she was looking at the University of Wisconsin as a possible college to attend. The Badgers are the university's sports teams
  • Claire's fed alias is Beatrice Quimby, referring to the protagonist from the Ramona children's novel series
  • Dean teased Claire on the telephone, pretending to report a bear that was trying to steal a picnic basket. This refers to the Hanna Barbera cartoon character Yogi Bear (first appeared in 1958), who frequently tries to steal picnic baskets from campers in the fictional "Jellystone" park (based on Yellowstone park)
  • Dean accuses Mick of being “Downton Abbey” boring, referring to the British drama series that ran from 2010 - 2015
  • Dean jokingly calls Claire “Clarice”, referring to Clarice Starling, the fictional federal agent who captured a serial killer in the 1991 horror movie "The Silence of the Lambs"
  • The hunters discuss Hayden's "Wolverine" healing abilities, referring to the Marvel Comics superhero and member of the X-Men, who has the ability to heal is own wounds
  • Claire called Sam an "old Skeezer", but that term is often used in a derogatory way to refer to a girl or woman who has loose sexual morals. It's not generally used to describe a man
  • When Dean and Mick question Connor, they used fed aliases Strummer and Vai, referring to Joe Strummer and Steve Vai, vocalist and guitarist with the 1980's-era band The Clash
  • When Dean questions Mick about his whereabouts the night before, Mick says he was watching.an episode of “The Great British Bakeoff”, a competition reality television show (2010 - present)
  • Claire insults Justin, calling him "Teen Wolf". This refers to a (2011 - present) sci-fi television series by the same name about a teenage werewolf
