I think Dean was honest with himself in Croatoan (he told Sam that he was tired of this life), but he was preparing to die... So circumstances were special. ;)

And I think that djinn's world in "What is and what shuld never be" is a good source of knowledge about Dean - that was supposed to be "perfect world" so why it wasn't? I have a theory that Dean's subconsciousness made a nasty trick there. ;) Just think about it - he refused himself to have a close relationship with Sam...

Oh, and "Skin" - shapeshifter talked to Sam about Dean "having issues" and being jealous about Stanford and Sam's normal life...

There are common jokes about SPN between fans. One is about always creepy children and second - that serious Winchesters talks are usually caused by supernatural creatures: shapeshifters, sirens, ghosts etc. ;D
