THE GHOSTFACERS RETURN — A teenage girl is killed and the final selfie she took before the attack shows a ghostly figure in the background. Looking for something to keep them busy, Dean and Sam head to Washington to find the ghost. While the two interview the girl's mother, Betty, they are surprised when she starts talking about cold spots and fritzing. When they ask her about bringing up paranormal signs, Betty replies that the “supernaturalists” who called earlier brought it up. Enter Harry and Ed, the famous supernaturalists...

They were interested in the mysterious and supernatural and travelled around in a bright green van called the Mystery Machine.
  • Harry calls Dean and Sam "Menudo", referring to the handsome members of the 1980's era Lain, boy band Menudo
  • Dean - "And what about the rest of the Bad New Bears, huh?" - This refers to the 1976 movie about a team of young misfits,who ended up in the Little League team under the guidance of Morris Buttermaker (Walter Matthau), an alcoholic ex-minor league player.
  • Harry - "50 Shades of way too much protein." -This refers to the 2011 novel Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James, the first in a trilogy of books. It features explicit scenes.
  • Norwood - "I figured it wouldn't hurt to go a little Medium, you know." - This alludes to the supernatural-mystery TV series by NBC and then CBS, airing from 2005 to 2011. It was based on the life of Allison DuBois, a housewife with supposed psychic abilities who helped the police to solve crimes.
  • Sam - "And when did viral go from that baby chimp falling out of a tree to killer Candid Camera?" - This refers to the long-running series, which staged fake incidents and captured the unsuspecting bystanders' reactions on camera.
  • Harry tells Ed that he crashed the "Jenga tower" of their lives, referring to the game in which players build a tower of wooden blocks and then remove one block at a time until the structure collapses
  • Dean - "OK,this all sounds like Sad Times at Bitchmont High." This alludes to the 1982 teen comedy Fast Times at Ridgemont High with Judge Reinhold, Phoebe Cates, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
