I only have a minute to create this discussion thread. Will be back later to actually discuss this episode.

I don’t have much to say about this one. It didn’t rank very high with me.

I wonder why the wolf didn’t kill the third pig? Maybe the doctor stopped reading the story, so young Callie lost interest and disappeared, which woke up the wolf dude?

Hey, is the old lady at the cabin the same woman from “Hunteri Heroici” who talks to Cas at the nursing home? Cas asks her about strange odors, and she directs him to the cat.

So, I guess these writers are saying that everybody who is in a coma is close enough to death that their spirits are stuck here, like Dean was in “In My Time of Dying”? So those spirits are all wandering around in a confused limbo?

Every episode in season 3 reminds us that Dean is going to die soon, but this one presents that theme very heavily. As much as I hate all the sadness, I love that shot at the end when Dean is walking alone down the hospital corridor after telling Sam that he’s going to have to let go. So sad, but so beautiful.

I too don’t have a ton to say about this one. It’s sad with the comatose daughter.

That is a lovely shot of Dean walking away. So sad though. Him wanting Sam to let him go. UGH.

Oh, but didn’t Sam shoot the crossroads demon in this one? I liked that scene. The demon here was Jared’s real-life long-term girlfriend at the time; Sandy. I only recently learned that! He has a type (petite brunettes). That was one of the best scenes of the whole thing.

HAHA, ok, I am the opposite on this one from you guys. I always loved this episode and that hasn’t changed in many re-watchings.

I grew up with these fairy tales – the REAL ones….the ones with murder and mayhem and slaughtered little pigs and cut off toes and poisoned and eaten children…the OG horror stories! Yes, my father read them to us as bedtime stories….haha – stellar parenting, I guess?

Anyhow, I love real original fairy tales and fables and this episode was a really clever twist on many of those stories. The idea that a sad, poor ghost child finally goes mad or vengeful and lashes out to be heard
by using the stories her dad read her was really interesting to me.

I liked the brotherly banter all through out showcasing Sam’s book smarts and Dean’s snark about this “useless” info. Of course, I wish they hadn’t gone the “can you be more gay” route and found a different expression in that moment, but the overall idea that Sam actually knows fairytales and Dean only knows porn versions of the stories was hilarious to me.

I did feel a little hit over the head with the “let it go” parallel in the story to Sam and Dean’s situation, but I forgive it because I do like everything else about the episode.
