ROWENA REAPPEARS — Dean and Sam stumble upon a demon who is running a brothel. Before they have a chance to shut him down, Rowena steps in and takes things into her own hands. Meanwhile, Hannah runs into a blast from her vessel’s past, which complicates things for her and Castiel.

  • Dean (to Sam) - "Is it so hard to believe that an attractive, red-blooded American female could be interested in someone like me?"
  • Dean (to Shaylene)- "I have this code:no cash for ass."
  • Crowley (to Gerald) - "You and your half-wit pal threw me into the sex trade? I'm evil, that's just tacky."
  • Rowena (to the girls) - "Hardly the most appetizing process in the world, but killing demons always makes me hungry."
  • Dean (to Cole) - "I'm past saving. I know how my story ends. It's at the edge of a blade or the barrel of a gun."

  • Why does Dean Winchester need a dating app?
  • Is Dean in denial over the Mark of Cain? Can he control it or is it controlling him?
  • Can The Boys find a way to remove the Mark safely?
  • Has Cole really forgiven Dean or is revenge still burning away inside? Will he return to his family or start hunting monsters himself?
  • Is Crowley still missing Dean?
  • How will Hannah's decision to return to heaven affect Castiel? Will he try to return Jimmy Novak to his family?
  • Does Dean truly believe that he is pat saving?

  • Dean has worked things out with Cole - apparently.
  • Dean revealed to Cole that he knows his future is to die violently but his denial to Sam that this is what he truly believes rang hollow.
  • Dean apparently has some control over the Mark at this point; he didn't kill Cole.
  • Rowena IS Crowley's mother! Like him, she's prepared to kill anyone who gets in her way.
  • Hannah was clearly developing some "un-angelic" feelings for Castiel; she seemed pleased that her nudity made him uncomfortable
  • Despite her brief period of time among humans, Hannah was developing feelings and enjoying certain aspects of humanity, like taking a shower
  • Rowena has a nifty hex bag that can kill demons
  • Unlike the witches we've previously met on Supernatural, Rowena does not obtain her power from a demon; she was apparently born with "the gift"
  • Rowena is at least 300 years old and was part of the Grand Coven of witches, but it seems she was expelled for being too extreme

  • This episode was titled "The Slice Girls" in the Australian TiVo program guide.
  • Dean's username in his dating app was "Impala67"
  • Hannah's vessel's name is Caroline Johnson; according to her driver's license, she's from Montana
  • Rowena and the two girls dined at a French restaurant named "Bistro des Moules"; "moule" is French slang for vag*na. There is actually an establishment called "Le Bistrot a Moules" in the town of Lons in Southern France.
  • In the show, Cole's character is married and has a son, but when we see his hands in the alley fight scene and when he's torturing the demon, he doesn't wear a wedding ring. He wears what looks like a wedding ring on the ring finger of his right hand -- not his left.
  • "Websummon" seems to be Castiel's preferred search engine; there is a company called "Websummon", but they build websites. They don't appear to operate a search engine.
  • Liv Leacock, who played Gerald's second meatsuit, played a man whose friend gets shot in season 4 "Death Takes a Holiday".
  • Elysia Rotaru, who played the prostitute Shaylene in this episode also played the ghost of a "fancy lady" (a euphemism for a prostitute) in season 7 "Of Grave Importance"
  • Jackson Berlin (who played Gerald's first meatsuit) also played a shapeshifter in season 6 "Two and a Half Men"

  • "Workers Comp" stands for "workers compensation", a form of insurance that finances medical care and income replacement for employees injured while working.
  • Rowena referred to the Grand Coven witches as "utter fannies". In the US, "fanny" refers to one's buttocks, but in the UK, Australia and New Zealand it's considered a slang term for vag*na.
  • Rowena says, "King of what? Lilliput?" - This refers to Jonathan Swift's 1726 novel "Gulliver's Travels",where the traveler Lemuel Gulliver meets the little people of Lilliput in the first of the four books detailing his travels to strange lands.
  • "Coup de grace" is a 17th century French term that means "stroke of grace"; it refers to a death blow that ends someone's suffering
  • Crowley's silence prompts Rowena to ask "Cat got your tongue?". The origin of this phrase is uncertain, but two possibilities are frequently repeated. One theory suggests that it began in ancient Egypt, when liars had their tongues cut out and fed to cats. The other theory says the phrase originated among British sailors; after being flogged by the cat-o-nine-tails (called "the cat"), the sailor was in so much pain he tended not to talk.

  • "Toi et Moi" -- Pamela Clay (plays when Rowena and the girls are at the French restaurant; the translation means "You and Me"
  • "Danse D'amour" - Pamela Clay (plays when Rowena and the girls are at the French restaurant; the translation means "Love dance"
