  • Shortly after Jimmy left his family for the second time (Season 4, The Rapture), Claire's mother dropped Claire off with her grandmother and left to "find herself". She never returned. When Claire's grandmother died, Claire ended up in foster care and has been troubled ever since.
  • Claire blames Castiel and the Winchesters for ruining her life. Castiel also blames himself for what happened to Claire.
  • Castiel no longer believes that he's on a righteous path.
  • Cas considers Dean a role model.
  • Dean asked Cas to kill him if he goes dark-side again.
  • Dean likes The Three Stooges
  • Jimmy Novak's soul is in Heaven and has been there since Cas was exploded by an archangel (season 5, Swan Song).
  • Rowena almost traded her son for 3 pigs, and she abandoned him when he was 8 years old (presumably because she was run out of town for witchcraft). Rowena admits that she was a horrible mother.
  • John Winchester didn't like New York City or the Yankees baseball team
  • When Dean was a teenager, he and John were working a case in New York City. After John and Sam were asleep, Dean sneaked off to CBGB and got drunk. John found him and brought him back.

  • Dean has killed some men, apparently in a frenzy under the influence of the Mark of Cain.

  • Because the tomato is a fruit (not a vegetable), and pureed tomato concentrate is the first ingredient in ketchup, ketchup could loosely be considered a fruit. Nevertheless, in some school districts, a serving of ketchup is regarded as a serving of vegetables.
  • Castiel fidgeted with his tie when he was in the interview with the counselor, despite the fact that he normally wears a tie.
  • Dean was watching the 1940 Three Stooges episode "A Plumbing We Will Go":

  • CBGB is a music club founded in 1973 in Manhattan's East Village neighborhood. The acronym stands for "Country, Bluegrass, Blues" and the club is well known for some performers who eventually became big stars, including Joan Jett, Blondie, The Ramones, and the Talking Heads.
  • The demon prisoner insults Rowena's Scottish descent by calling her "Braveheart", referring to the 1995 film about William Wallace, a Scotsman who led a rebellion against England.
  • The demon prisoner says Crowley will want to know how she "Houdini'd" her way out of hell, referring to the famous escape artist, Harry Houdini (1874 - 1926).
  • Dean jokingly calls Claire Miley Cyrus, referring to the American singer and actress (daughter of Country music star Billy Ray Cyrus) who started her career as a relatively wholesome child actress, but gained notoriety for more questionable behavior as she grew older.
  • Claire jokingly calls Dean "Hasselhoff", referring to the American actor David Hasselhoff, who is well known for his good looks.
  • Dean comments that Claire is no "Mother Theresa", referring to the Roman Catholicnun who devoted her life to caring for sick and poor people in Calcutta, India. Mother Theresa also founded a religious order of nuns, received the Nobel Peace Prize, and was canonized a saint by the Vatican in 2016.

Hey Guys,

Well it's the mid-Season Finale and it looks very bleak for Dean from the promo trailer, although the episode info released doesn't show that...

Here's your chance to sound off with your hopes and fears for "The Things We Left Behind" and your thoughts about this episode after it airs. :) Mid-Season Finales are usually excellent at leaving us with a real cliff-hanger so I have high hopes for this episode!

Let us know what you think... And then tell us what you loved and what didn't you like so much about the whole episode after it airs...
