DEVILS TRAP Episode 122 airdate: May 4, 2006 directed by Kim Manners written by Eric Kripke |
On a mission to save their father (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) from Meg (guest star Nicki Aycox), Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) seek help from an old family friend, Bobby (guest star Jim Beaver). When Meg shows up on Bobby's doorstep, the brothers lure her into a trap and exorcise the demon from her body after learning where John is being held prisoner. While trying to rescue John, the demon shows up and a full battle ensues between the Winchesters and the demon they have been searching for all their lives.

- John: Killing this demon comes first. Before me, before everything.
Sam: (looks at wounded Dean) No sir. Not before everything. - John (possessed): You know you fight, and you fight for this family, but the truth is, they don’t need you, not like you need them. Sam, he’s clearly John's favorite. Even when they fight its more concern than he’s ever shown you.
Dean: I bet you’re real proud of you kids too huh? Oh wait, I forgot, I wasted them.

- Where and when will the yellow-eyed demons strike next?
- What is the plan for "special children" like Sam?
- The demon Meg had possessed the girl Meg for over a year; she was "awake" for parts of it and had to watch the demon killing.
- Bobby is very compassionate toward the innocent people that are being possessed by demons.
- Bobby's dog is never seen or mentioned again.
- When Sam was drawing the "Devil's Trap" on Dean's car, Dean smears the drawing making the trap useless.
- Recap Song: Triumph - "Fight the Good Fight"
- Joe Walsh - "Turn to Stone"
- Creedence Clearwater Revival - "Bad Moon Rising"
- Dean says about the exorcism, "Oh we're going for it, baby. Head spinning, projectile vomiting, the whole nine yards." This is a reference to the 1973 horror movie The Exorcist, in which a young girl is possessed by a demon. The movie was written by William Peter Blatty, who also wrote the novel it was based upon.
"Dean, you gotta hold on." After the crash, Dean's spirit wanders the hospital corridors as his comatose body hovers at the brink of death ... and a Reaper tries to lure him into eternity.

I think that in the revelations list should include what Dean said to Sam: "I'll always wanted to be a fireman, when I grow up"...so Dean wanted to be a fireman..always a hero
