In Time Is on My Side, Rufus is a retired hunter to whom Bobby sends Dean when Bela steals the Colt and then disappears. Bobby thinks Rufus can help, and he advises Dean to take an expensive bottle of Scotch with him. Dean soon finds out he needs it, just to get in the door. Rufus turns out to have information after all, and he helps Dean find Bella...though the Colt is long gone.

Even though he and Bobby apparently had some kind of falling out (probably years ago), Rufus calls Bobby to warn him about hunters knowing about Sam (in When the Levee Breaks).

Rufus will be ripped out of retirement by the apocalypse and will appear in Good God, Y'All.
