I agree Dean and Death scenes were interesting, PigNaPoke! 🙂  Dean does believes in reapers, having seen them when hunting with his father. He meets a reaper in Faith, when suffering a heart attack when he and Sammy are hunting. He goes to a hospital.
He eats pizza at Rinascita Pizzeria with Death in Chicago, and has a meal with him in continuing conversation – they conversing about his day ; about the apocalypse and the death day. He rolls his eyes at Death at hesitant cynicism, the reaper saying that was impolite. He is surprised, although that is more to do with the analytic claustrophobia and that he is speaking to a supernatural elderly reaper who seemed to understand life, than anything else.
He is not a particularly good Death the one day he is, yet he does try, wanting Death to help his brother. People see a good looking man as Death, remembering in their lore, it was a old man with a scythe and robes. They see a man who likes Kansas, and is like a man they may meet in real life.
He had already been fighting to know his belief, during his rough life, it making sense to him in his roadtripping life. He feels peace especially with Sammy by his side, since his childhood, although why did he go to Stanford and leave him and his father and his mother and family behind? His father and him fought demons and monsters during, his father always thinking about Sammy, and hoping he was safe, seeing him when he had time to, adrift in the background. Dean feels guilt at leaving Sam behind and playing in the arcade one day in the motel room, and then seeing the Shtriga sucking his soul out, as the windows are open and wind rushing in ; of not connecting staying dots in observational understanding to…
They are slow-motion hugging each other.
I think Sam would feel a lot of hallucinations and tension headaches, now that his soul is back, Death placing his soul into him and saying not to scratch the wall. He empathising with people with supernatural abilities, soldiers the Yellow Eyed Demon created.
It is interesting how Sam is seen as evil and Dean is good in supernatural deities, yet in modern times, it is the opposite. He is Lucifer, a fallen angel, and Dean is Michael. They are both soldiers.
