THE BUNKER IS HAUNTED — Dean and Sam are stunned to discover the Men of Letters’ bunker is haunted. Their investigation leads them to a storage facility where the demons have been keeping a prize possession. Meanwhile, Castiel is captured by Bartholomew. |
- Dean (to Kevin's ghost) - “Kevin, I’m sorry. You did not choose this life. You busted your ass, you lost everything, everyone you loved, and your reward? Getting killed. On my watch. That was on me. It was my fault. And there’s nothing I can do to make that right. I am so sorry.”
- Ghost Kevin (to Dean and Sam) - “Heaven’s closed for business. Everybody who’s died since the angels fell, we’re just stuck inside the veil, waiting. And it’s bad in here. Like, DMV line times infinity bad.”
- Cas (to Bartholomew) - “Angels fighting angels has to stop somewhere. It might as well stop with me.”
- Dean (to Kevin's ghost) - “You can thank us when we get you to Heaven where you belong. Until then, enjoy spending time with your mom. The uninterrupted, 24/7, no-escape quality time.”
- Ghost Kevin - “Before I go, can you guys promise me something? Can you two get over it? Dudes, just 'cause you couldn’t see me doesn’t mean I couldn’t see you. The drama, the fighting? It’s stupid. My mom’s taking home a ghost. You two, you’re both still here.”

- Can the Gates of Heaven be reopened so that souls can move on from the Veil?
- Will Cas lead his own angel faction? Will he take on Malachi as well as Metatron?
- Where is Crowley? Is he still looking for the "first blade"?
- What is Abaddon up to?
- Will Kevin eventually become a vengeful spirit that the Winchesters will have to deal with?
- Is Sam ever going to forgive Dean? Why is he behaving like this - even breaking the promise he made to Kevin's ghost to mend their relationship?
- Human souls are also barred from entering Heaven!
- Kevin's ghost is stuck in the Veil.
- Mrs Tran is alive!
- Bartholomew has been tracking Metatron on Earth.
- Jerry Wanek has been a producer and set designer on Supernatural for a very long time, but this in only the second episode he has directed. He also directed "The Slice Girls" (season 7)
- According to Bartholomew's map, Metatron has been spotted 3 times on Earth, and all 3 locations were in the United States -- Washington State, Michigan, and Georgia
- Bartholomew's headquarters has two well-known bible verses on the walls: the first verse is from Romans 8:31 "...If God be for us, who can be against us?" The second is from Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the Lord..."
- Kevin comments that the veil is crowded "like DMV line times infinity bad". The DMV stands for "department of motor vehicles", and most offices are not known for having friendly employees and clerks. They are also notorious for having slow service and long waiting lines
- Dean jokingly refers to Del as "Del, the Funky Homosapien", likely referencing the rapper of the same name
- Dean introduces Sam and himself as "Agents Nicks and McVie", referencing three members of the band Fleetwood Mac: Stevie Nicks (lead and backup vocalist), John McVie (bassist and backgroundvocals), and Christine McVie (lead and background vocals, and keyboards)
- Sam says, "Like in Daniel Webster?" - This references the 1937 short story, The Devil and Daniel Webster by Stephen Vincent Benét. In the story, a New Hampshire farmer named Jabez Stone sells his soul to the Devil in exchange for seven years of good luck. When the Devil comes to collect, Stone is able to convince lawyer and politician Daniel Webster to argue his case for him.
- When Bartholomew is discussing the angel factions, he says he wants them to understand that "resistance is futile". This phrase is from the Sci-fi series "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987-1994). In the series, the Borg, an aggressive race that enslaved other civilizations, used this phrase to discourage resistance
- "Lonely is the Night" - by Billy Squier (plays when Dean is listening to his headphones)
