The French Mistake

• The "French Mistake" is a term commonly used to refer to the infamous event in French history when Napoleon sent 400,000 of his troops to Russia, leaving France unguarded and open to invasion.

• Additionally, "The French Mistake" is a musical number in the movie Blazing Saddles. In the scene, a massive brawl between townsfolk and an army of criminals breaks out of the film's set and onto the soundstage where the musical number is being performed. Actors go in and out of character as the fight continues throughout the Warner lot.

• Garwin Sanford, who played Deacon in "Folsom Prison Blues," was one of the producers in this episode (the one who said that J&J would not know who Sera was).

• Dean asks Sam if he'd rather stay in the non-magic universe: "Well, I'm just saying, "No hell below us, above us only sky."" These are lyrics from the John Lennon song "Imagine."

• Misha constantly tweeting (on Twitter) was an allusion to the real-life Misha Collins staying in touch with fans through his Twitter account ... but the real life Misha is much funnier!
